Place and importance of translation theory in translation practice

Abstract (EN)

As the entire world, as a natural result of intercultural communication intensive translation activity has been also experienced in our country. Translation activity has become a great sector which contains several institutions. When it is considered as a whole, translators constitute the most important part of this activity. Translatorship is also among the major professions in the process of history; because it is impossible for the communities in different languages and cultures to be able to enter to the process of interaction without translation activity.The purpose of this thesis is that to examine the position of translator in today, different institutions in the translation sector with that translator is in effectiveness in its structural features and the identity of translator at the level of interinstitutional links and to address and re- describe different identities consisting in different institutions in ports.Then, in the framework of translation theory reflecting contemporary translation, interaction process between determined position of the translator, translation industry and educational institutions has been examined, the presence of real connections between theory and application has been investigated and the contemporary theory in practice in our country are tried to be determined.For purposes of this thesis, initially identity of translator in the history process and translation activities maintained in different cultures and with different translation understandings in the process of history, then translation paradigm reflecting contemporary translation have been investigated. In the conclusion, possible solutions obtained from the perspective in connection points of emerging issues, have been given.The data obtained from our surveys show that there are disconnections resulting from our country's socio-economic conditions Among institutions on the translation activity continued intensively In today's Turkey and because of the economic and legal conditions and interinstitutional disconnection, a contemporary translator identity cannot be created. Owing to the same reasons, contemporary translation theories were found only partly in practice.
