Abstract (EN)

FUZZY OPTIMIZATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL INTERACTED ENERGYSYSTEMS(Ph.D. Thesis)Ahmet SARUCANGAZI UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYFebruary 2006ABSTRACTIn this thesis, Turkey?s environmental interactive national energy system isanalyzed, and modeled with fuzzy linear programming. Firstly, current status ofthe national energy system and its environmental view is analyzed. Then, theNetwork based mathematical modeling of these systems are carried out. Forthese analysis, consistent decision support model based on networkrepresentation, EFOM-ENV (Energy Flow Optimization Modeling-ENVironmental), is selected. In this optimization modeling, the whole energysystem is handled through modular structures, in those all interrelations areformulated by means of linear equations. The aim of the model is, to minimizethe total cost as a result of production, conversion and transportation of theprimary energy forms to meet the exogenously inserted demand for primaryenergy, and the costs resulting from the reduction of related emissions fromthese activities.Mathematical modeling of the Turkey?s national energy system is defined indetail, and sectoral basis of the structural model of EFOM-ENV is developed.Since the model is driven by the exogenously given demand vector, and there isa fuzziness, which has been observed in the elements of the demand vector, thelinear optimization modeling has been revised as fuzzy linear programming. Aconsistent solution algorithm has been developed and adapted to the model. Thelinear programming is multiperiod and covers a planning range of 2000-2030.This period is further considered as 6 periods, each having 5 years, called alsoas milestone years. According to the constructed data set, the model is run andthe results are presented comparatively. Finally, it is shown that the fuzzy linearmodel out performed crisp model.Science Code : 919Key Words : Energy, Environment, Modelling, Fuzzy LinearProgrammingPage Number : 165Adviser : Assist.
