Abstract (EN)

This thesis examines Mehmed III's military operation on Eğri in 1596 and the Eğri Expedition Diaries (Eğri Seferi Rûznâmesi) of 1596 using an environmental and climate history approach. It investigates the impact of climate, the environment, and, in a related context, logistics on the military operation process, which occupies more time and space than battle moments. Putting aside the number of soldiers, weapon technologies, military training, and strategy differences between the warring groups, the answer to the question of how nature plays a role in the course of the conflict and the physical-psychological condition of the soldiers will be revealed. Unlike the general tendency in Ottoman military history studies, the relation between human and nature during the campaign will be the main focus instead of sieges and field battles.
