Prof. Dr. Suphi URALThis investigation discusses the engineering geological investigations carriedout to assess the quality for the assessment of construction rock block potential inCeyhan (Adana) area and their potential armourstone to be used for the Bakü-Tiflis-Ceyhan Marine Terminal as rubble-mound breakwater. Bazalts and limestones wereselected for the assessment. For this purpose, several laboratory tests were conductedto determine the physical and mechanical properties of the armourstone and tounderstand the behaviour of the armourstone under different environmentalconditions. The findings were then correlated with specifications in order to assesstheir long-term durability and to select most suitable rock units.Key Words: Ceyhan, armourstone, bazalt, limestone, rock blocks.II
