Arslan TEKİNSOY: Prof. Dr. Hasan ÇETİNIn this study, various soil improvement techniques were investigatedtheoreticaly and experimantaly. In addition, experimental studies were performed onadditional materials for stabilization. The effects of the composite portland cement and slag, used in specificproportions, on the geothecnical properties of sandy soils have been investigated. The improvement of the weak soil deposits has a major importance in the metropolisand limited areas because of the economic and environmental aspects. In the presentstudy uniform sand soil, slag and composite portland cement were used andcompaction test, unconfined compression tests were carried out.The consequence of this study following results have been obtained. Thesandy soils can be stabilized using the cement. Also similar improvement can beachieved using the mix consisting of cement and slag in the same proportions. Thecure is a very important factor affecting the strength of the stabilized soil.Key Words: Slag, Cement, Sand, Unconfined Compression Test, Compaction.II
