Abstract (EN)

In this study, we examined foreign direct investments made by the People's Republic of China, which occupy a significant place in the global economy.By focusing on foreign direct investments within the scope of the Belt and Road Initiative project announced by the People's Republic of China in 2013 from a sectoral perspective, we aimed to analyze its effects on the Chinese economy. In the initial section, we conducted a theoretical exploration of FDI, emphasizing its significance for national economies and international trade. Additionally, we examined its implications for the global and Turkish economic landscapes.Subsequently, we proceeded to the second part of our study, wherein we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the leading foreign investor nations worldwide and the FDI of the People's Republic of China on a global scale and within the Turkish economy. In this section, we employed a sectoral perspective to enhance our understanding. In the subsequent analysis section, we examined the development of FDI in the aforementioned sectors and assessed the impact of these investments on the Chinese economy. We also analyzed the impact of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the global pandemic of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) on Chinese FDI.According to the results of our study, we found that FDI plays a vital role in the economy of the People's Republic of China, promoting economic development and foreign trade, reducing unemployment, and being negatively affected by inflation. Furthermore, it was observed that the economic repercussions of the pandemic led to a contraction in China's aggregate FDI. We have also found that the BRI project has increased foreign trade, economic growth, and FDI in the Chinese economy.
