Abstract (EN)
This study aimed to determine some agromorphological characters and grain size of the populations obtained from the F1 progeny and open pollinated populations (F2) of five popcorn cultivars (Baharcin, Elacin, Bulut, Antcin 98, Koçcin) and their mixtures (50% F1-50% F2). In order to evaluate it in terms of poping characteristics, it was carried out in three replications according to the divided plots trial design in the second crop corn growing season of 2020 in the Research and Application Area of the Department of Field Crops, Faculty of Agriculture, Çukurova University. According to the results obtained from the study, it was determined that the differences between gin corn cultivars and F1, F2 and their mixtures were significant for tassel flowering time, silk flowering time, plant height, number of rows per cob, single ear weight, grain weight per cob and grain yield. In the study, the highest grain yield was obtained from the Baharcin cultivar with 498.1 kg/da, and the lowest was obtained from the Koçcin cultivar at 217.13 kg/da. It was determined that grain yield decreased in the F2 generation and 50%F1+50% F2 mixture, except for one cultivar (Koçcin). The highest poping volume was obtained from Baharcin and Elacin cultivar with 20.86 cm3/g, and the lowest was obtained from Antcin 98 cultivar with 16.33 cm3/g.According to the results obtained from this study, it was concluded that F1 seed in gin corn should be renewed every year for grain yield and ideal poping volume.
