IV COMPUTER AIDED THE SIMULATION OF THE PART PROGRAM PREPARED FOR CNC LATHE (M. Sc. Thesis) Ahmet ÖZDEMÎR GAZt UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY January 1988 ABSTRACT The part programs prepared for CNC machine tools cause an important waste of time during the test runs. A simulation program has been developed for proving these part programs by using computer. The most important characteristics of the simulation program is that can be applied to training of CNC part programmers in educational institutes and for trial runs in the industry. Input to the simulation program is the part program, unmachined part diameter and length and the type of the holding workpiece, the distances of the tool to the starting-point of the operation. The output from the simulation program is the tool-motion on the screen, the image of the produced workpiece on the screen, the list of the coordinates of the tool paths and the final duration for all the operations. The simulation program has been written in BASIC language and prepared by using a personal computer with a single floppy disk drive and of 256 Kbyte memory.
