Abstract (EN)

In this study, thermal spray coatings made with nano and micron size particle containing powders were studied. WC-Co coating was used as the coating type. These coatings are especially used in areas such as aerospace, energy, chemical engineering technology, bioengineering and more. Thanks to its high hardness and plastic deformation ability, WC-Co is used in applications requiring impact wear resistance. This type of coating is one of the best examples of the type of cermet composite material with its high hardness WC content. The Co matrix provides corrosion resistance and plastic deformation ability to the coating. Thanks to both corrosion resistance and high hardness, WC-Co coatings significantly increase material life on surfaces that come into contact with each other in the corrosion environment. In this thesis, WC-Co coating was made with micron and nano-sized WC-Co powders and it was observed how the grain size of the powder changed the coating properties. The use of nano-sized powders focused on the nanostructures in the microstructure and the improvements in mechanical properties. With the characterization tests, the phases formed in the microstructure and their dimensions were examined, and the mechanical properties of the coating were monitored with the hardness and tensile tests.
