Abstract (EN)
This thesis, titled "Child Friendly Cities: The Case of Bursa", is a study that deals with the practices related to children, initiated by UNICEF around the world and implemented in many cities in Turkey with the joint participation of the Ministry of Interior. In the thesis, Child Friendly City, the development of children's rights in the world and in our country is discussed with examples in line with the 4 basic articles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which consists of 54 articles. In our country, the Child Friendly City model initially included the years 2006-2010; It was conducted in 12 pilot provinces consisting of Antalya, Bursa, Erzincan, Gaziantep, Karaman, Kayseri, Kırşehir, Konya, Sivas, Tekirdağ, Trabzon and Uşak. As an example from these provinces; Child-friendly city studies of public, private, non-governmental organizations and local governments in the cities of Gaziantep, Antalya, Kayseri, Tekirdağ, Trabzon and Bursa were handled as literature review and document review. The child-friendly city in Bursa, which constitutes the specialty of the study, and studies related to children, interviews were conducted with experts in some public, private, non-governmental organizations and local government organizations. Principally, the data obtained by using semi-structured interview questions and interview techniques on the rights to life, development, protection and participation, which are formed from the 4 basic articles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, were evaluated.
