Abstract (EN)
When compared to many other art forms, comic books can be considered a relatively new trend and format. As a hybrid, comic books, like cinema, started to surface and give its first official samples in 19th century, and almost a lifetime had to pass before they started to be considered a genuine art form, rather than a snack-like tool for amusement. Considering how it took "a Renaissance" before painters and sculptors were started to be considered artists instead of artisans, we can say that it is a reasonable period. But that doesn't mean that it was a painless procedure. For a very long time, comic books have been seen as a temporary instrument of amusement for children by public, and a stepping stone for developing reading habits before they are directed to a reading format more "worthy of time" by scholars. In both cases when comic books are mentioned, there is almost always another concept that follows it; childhood. This thesis is written to observe the difference between books and the publication tools known as comic books, the different affects and contributions they have on children's imagination before they grow up to be adults. At the end, the question of "Are comic books a visual imposition?" will be asked.
