Abstract (EN)

This study deals with the importance of ergonomics in the design of children's playgrounds and the methods of applying ergonomic principles. In the research, ergonomic criteria, especially anthropometric data and other ergonomic standards that should be taken into consideration in the design of playgrounds are examined. It is emphasized that ergonomic design considering children's physical measurements and developmental characteristics is of critical importance in terms of safety and comfort. Within the scope of the research, field observations were made in various children's playgrounds in Ankara and digital analyses were carried out through CAD (Computer Aided Design) software. In these analyses, the compliance of existing playgrounds with ergonomic standards was evaluated and identified design deficiencies and safety risks were revealed. The study offers solutions for the development of children's playgrounds in accordance with ergonomic design principles and safety standards. As a result, this thesis defines the basic criteria and standards that should be considered in the design of children's playgrounds to make them safer and healthier and provides data to evaluate the compliance of existing areas with these standards.
