An analysis of educational games in Turkish language teaching sets for children

The purpose of this research is to examine educational games in Turkish language teaching materials used as a foreign language for children. In line with this purpose, educational games in Turkish language teaching sets for children were compared in terms of game type, basic skill area, and language level. This study, prepared using the qualitative research method of document analysis, examines the educational games in the "ABC Çocuklar İçin Türkçe Öğretim Seti" (ABC Turkish Teaching Set for Children), "Merhaba Türkçe Öğretim Seti" (Merhaba Türkçe Teaching Set) prepared by Bahçeşehir University, "Yeni Dünyam Türkçe Seti" (Yeni Dünyam Turkish Set), "Türkçe Öğreniyorum" and "Çocuklar İçin Türkçe (ÇİT)" sets prepared by Yunus Emre Institute. At the end of the examination, the educational games were compared in terms of aspects such as game type, number, levels they are used in, and the teaching of which skill area. The study covers the textbooks and workbooks for all levels of the specified teaching sets. It is expected that the results obtained from this research, which focuses on early foreign language learning and the use of educational games in early foreign language learning, will contribute to the literature, researchers, Turkish language teachers, students learning Turkish as a foreign language, and book authors.
