Abstract (EN)
The study was planned as a randomized controlled type of experimental study to determine the effect of two different distractions (balloon inflation, stress ball) on pain, anxiety and physical parameters during pediatric patients. The research was carried out between April 2018 and August 2018 in Duzce University Health Application and Research Center Pediatric Service, Pediatric Surgery Service, Pediatric Emergency Clinic and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Children aged 6-10 years, who were hospitalized in the ward or who needed to take intravenous fluids on admission to the emergency room, volunteered to participate in the study. As a result of the power analysis, a total of 108 children, 36 of which were balloon inflating, 36 stress balls, and 36 were in the control group. "Personal Information Form için to determine the demographic characteristics of children and families in data collection, Parametre Physical Parameter Assessment Form esinde to assess physical parameters," Wong Baker Facial Expression Rating Scale-WBFPRS "to assess children's anxiety during the procedure, and to assess anxiety during the procedure. "Child Fear Scale-CFS" was used. The data obtained in this study were analyzed with SPSS 17 package program. When the pain and anxiety results of the children were evaluated, the WBFPRS and CFS values of the children in the balloon inflation and stress ball group were significantly lower than the control group (p <0.05). WBFPRS and CFS values of the stress ball group were significantly lower than the balloon inflation group (p <0.05). As a result; It was found that the application of two different distractions (balloon inflation, stress ball) during the peripheral vascular access was effective in reducing pain and anxiety in children. According to this result, balloon inflation and stress ball can be used as a supportive method to reduce the pain and anxiety of children with peripheral vascular access.
