Testing of the childhood trauma in correlation to mental health in terms of ontological well being by using structural equation model

Dr. Ömer Faruk Şimşek June, 2016- 88 pages Children are in need of care and protection by adults. This protection is provided by the child's parents or caregivers. Mental health researchers belives that under the supervision of the parent or caregiver in case of non-accidental traumatic incidents child's mental health adversely affects by it and many literature focuses and researches the topic. Chilhood abuse and neglect are known to be associated with a psychopathology. The effects of trauma over psychopatholog and their correlation is known; however what are the variables and time course that mediate this process not exactly known. Ontological well being is a well formed theory that discusses the assessment of the person's life project. It it belive to be mental health of the individual is a part of this project interms of positive/negative emotions and cognitive restructuring. Therefore, in this study childhood traumas examined in correlation to mental health and its ontological level of well being by using structural equation model. Research sample consist of 200 people between the ages of 25-45, who participated voluntarily to the study. Individuals chilhood trauma, depression, anxiety, life satisfaction and well being of ontological levels measured. As a result of the structural equation modeling, childhood trauma has effects on mental health and ontological well being levels and mental health has a correletion and played an important result in chilhood trauma.
