Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Comparison of propofoi and midazolam for sedation in diagnostic imaging at childhood. In this study our aim is to find propofoi and midazolam efficiency with adverse effect potentials and appropiate combination for sedation. 200 patients, aged 1-168 months were admitted to the study. To the half of the randomised patients propofoi (loading dose IV bolus 2 mg/kg/2min, maintenance dose was IV 100 pg/kg/min) and to the other half of the patients midazolam (IV bolus 0. 15 mg/kg/2 minutes) were given. Initial evaluation for the patients admitted to the study was done as, age gender, body weight and ASA Scores. After general physical examination, patients heart rates respiratory functions, peripheral oxygen saturations were observed and noted by 10 minutes intervals. During sedation till discharge time, patierits blood pressures^ respiratory rates, sedation levels (according to Ramsay Sedation Scala) evaluated by 10 minutes intervals. Complications and applied medications were noted during procedures. Two groups were compared for the results. As a result of our study in each groups, arterial blood pressures decreased (p<0.050) in Group 1, diastolic blood pressure decreased more (p<0.050), but when compared with Group 2, it was observed that Group 1 was more effective for sedation (p<0.050) and reached to appropiate sedation level in a shorter time than Group 2 (p<0.050). In Group 1, it is obtained that recovery time of patients was shorter. In propofoi applied group hypoxi was more common, but no significant difference was noticed (p>0.050). These results show that propofoi is more effective and has a shorter time to reach an adequate sedation level than midazolam. In conclusion, both midazolam arid propofoi are safe for childrens sedation with required preventions, but propofoi is more preferable between these drugs.
