Abstract (EN)

In this thesis work, torsional behaviour of shear wall-frame systems under earthquake loads have been investigated with the use of "Continuous Torsion Beam Analogy" method. This method is actually based on the theory related to the settling of simple beams due to torsion as mentioned in Vlaslov's theory of torsion. The study consists of six chapters and appendices. In the first chapter, the thesis subject has been introduced and previous studies on the same subject have been mentioned. The second is related to "Continuous Torsion Beam Analogy" that is the essence of the study. In the second chapter, some information about the analogy have been offered. Besides, assumptions and computation plan have been given. In the third chapter, data input structure and operation of SAP 90 program have been mentioned. In the fourth chapter, some information about torsional irregularities in the new earthquake regulations valid from 1998 has been given. In the fifth chapter, an illustrative example has been solved by using a computer program prepared especially for "Continuous Torsion Beam Analogy" method and the same example has been solved and then compared with SAP 2000 and SAP 90 programs either.V The sixth chapter is devoted to the solutions obtained from three computer programs. In the appendices, the computer program outputs of the solved example with the program itself. "EC. ¥teffi§ĞMTta &HJWL0
