Abstract (EN)

The aim of the thesis is to examine the seismic behavior of multiple low and medium height reinforced concrete buildings constructed with insufficient gap ratio, taking into account the pounding effect. For this purpose, regular frame building models constructed with 5-, 7- and 9-story, reflecting the characteristic properties of the existing building stock, were created. Nonlinear 2D building models were modeled using the SAP2000 program. Within the scope of the thesis, 3 different models and 8 different combinations were created, and time history analyzes were performed. In the study, in which 12 different groundmotion record pairs were used, a detailed examination was carried out by considering many parameters such as relative story drifts and peak displacements. When the displacement demands are examined, it is seen that four-building pounding models have higher ratio of pounding forces compared to two-building pounding models. It is concluded that considering only two building models in pounding analysis may lead misestimate occurred seismic demands since more than two buildings existed in adjacent construction. Due to the interaction caused by these multiple building models, increases in demands have occurred beyond expectations. The average IDR ratio values are found higher compared to two-building pounding cases.
