Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to test the applicability of Cooperative Learning Method Based on Multiple Intelligences Theory in teaching primary reading. The study is designed through ?post-test with control group model? among true experimental models. Cooperative Learning Method Based on Multiple Intelligences Theory in teaching primary reading and writing was used with the experimental group; however, the control group received no such treatment. The Sound-Based Sentence Method which was anticipated for primary reading-writing in the Teaching Program for Primary School Turkish Lesson (1-5 classes) was taken as the basis. Moreover, in the teaching of the sounds selected for the study, the application steps of The Sound-Based Sentence Method which is included in Teaching Program for Primary School Turkish Lesson (1-5 classes) were followed.The activities related to eight intelligences of Multiple Intelligences Theory were distributed to the application phases. At the end of each sound group, the applicability of Learning Together Technique which is one of the techniques of Cooperative Learning Method was tested. In teaching of the sounds, materials which were related to eight intellicenses of Multiple Intelligences Theory prepared by the researcher were used.Data were collected using Test of Reading Comprehension, Structured Observation Form of Reading Behaviors and Student Opinion Questionnaire. After gathering the post-test results of experimental and control groups, the means and standart deviations were calculated. In intergroup comparisons, t-test was computed and siginificance level was taken as .05. SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) package program was used for statistical analyses. In order to elicit the opinions of the students about the use of Cooperative Learning Method Based on Multiple Intelligences theory in primary reading teaching, Student Opinion Questionnaire was administered. In the analysis of the questionnaire, descriptive analysis technique was used. The results of the study are as follows:For the reading comprehension levels of the students in the experimental group where Cooperative Learning Method Based on Multiple Intelligences Theory was applied and control group where no such method was applied a significant difference in favor of the experimental group was found.For the reading skills development of the students in the experimental group where Cooperative Learning Method Based on Multiple Intelligences Theory was applied and control group where no such method was used a significant difference in favor of the experimental group was found.The students? opinions about the use of Cooperative Learning Method Based on Multiple Intelligences Theory in the teaching of primary reading were positive. The students enjoyed the use of Cooperative Learning Method Based on Multiple Intelligences Theory.
