Abstract (EN)

This study is set to analyse how food culture is reflected in EFL coursebooks and what the differences are in two publications that were published in the 1990s and in the 2010s about the food culture of the target language. The selected coursebook sets include three different levels of each: Headway Elementary Student's Book, Headway Pre-Intermediate Student's Book, Headway Intermediate Student's Book, Pioneer Elementary Student's Book, Pioneer Pre-Intermediate Student's Book, and Pioneer Intermediate Student's Book to compare the similarities and the differences. Both the Headway series and the Pioneer series are investigated and analysed under seven food culture related headings. The findings from both sets of coursebooks are analysed in detail with tables to show the changes through time. As a result, this thesis conducted with content analysis shows that both coursebooks include elements related to food culture, but the Pioneer series includes multicultural elements and a healthier lifestyle.
