Abstract (EN)

The Industrial Revolution, which started in England in the 18th century and affected the whole world, created great changes in the production methods, city and society structure. At the beginning of the 19th century, industrialization initiatives began in the Ottoman Empire. These initiatives were first seen in the military industry, then in the agricultural industry, including the weaving industry. The development of technology over time has caused great changes in the industry. The needs in the industrial buildings changed in a short time and the buildings were insufficient and new ones were started to be produced. Many factories that remained inadequate were abandoned to their fate. The factories that continue their production continue to work in difficult conditions. These industrial structures within the city faced the threat of extinction. In this study, the industrial dynamics of the cities of Adana, Antalya, Burdur, Hatay, Isparta, Mersin, Kahramanmaraş and Osmaniye, which are located in the Mediterranean Region of our country in the Late Ottoman, Republic and Post-1950 periods, were examined and the industrial structures that survived until today were determined. In the sources, no industrial structure was found in the cities of Kahramanmaraş and Osmaniye. 41 industrial buildings in Adana, Antalya, Burdur, Hatay, Isparta and Mersin are evaluated in terms of their construction years, production types, construction techniques, architectural features, registration status and function, and it is aimed to guide them in the process of bringing them into the city and society. Keywords: Mediterranean Region, Industrial Heritage, Factory, Conservation
