Abstract (EN)

This study was designed to elevated the correlation of TNF-ɑ 308 G/A and INF-γ +874 A/T genes polymorphism with COVID-19 infection. The patients of COVID-19 are from both genders (including 31 males and 29 females) between ages of 25-60 years old attending emergency of AL-Shifa Hospital, Kirkuk, Iraq at April to Augustus 2021. The results show a significant (P<0.05) increased in the concentration of IL-6 in the infected patients compared to the healthy persons. On the other hand, the results were showed significant increase in the concentration of TNF-α in the infected patients compared to the healthy persons. Serum ferritin also showed a significant (P<0.05) increase in the concentration of ferritin in the infected patients compared to the healthy persons. While, the findings were demonstrated significant (P<0.05) decrease in the concentration of IFN-γ in the infected patients compared to the healthy persons. About the molecular study, the findings in unwell patients imply that the -308G > A TNF-alpha SNP does not play a significant influence in the outcome of critical illness. In critically patients in an Iraqi population, the presence of the -308A TNF-alpha allele was not linked to sepsis, septic shock, greater organ dysfunction, or mortality. On the other hand, the results did not show that the IFNG rs2430561 (+874T/A) functional gene polymorphism had a direct effect on the increased disease risk reported in patients.
