Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected the whole world, on the local press in İstanbul. The situation of local media organizations, which have many problems, especially the economy, during the Covid-19 global pandemic that shook the whole world, was investigated through local newspapers published in print in Istanbul. In this direction, the study focuses on the history of the Turkish press and the history of the local press in general, the status of the local press in Istanbul today, what the Covid-19 pandemic is and its course in Turkey. In order to collect data on the subject, 10 journalists working in local newspapers operating in print in the province of Istanbul were interviewed. Within the scope of the study, it was determined that the local press of Istanbul, which had been going through difficult times with many problems before the pandemic, was negatively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Within the scope of the study, some suggestions were tried to be made to the local press sector and the authorities from the data obtained as a result of face-to-face interviews
