Examination of the relationship between marrial harmony and marrial satisfaction during the COVID-19 pandemic process

Although the institution of marriage is defined as a universal institution, it varies according to traditions, customs and cultural differences. The happiness of marriages in that society is also an important factor for the progress of societies in a healthy state. The main problem of this research is to examine the relationship between marital adjustment and marital satisfaction in married couples during the pandemic process. In the study, it was also aimed to examine whether marital adjustment and marital satisfaction differ according to some socio-demographic factors. The study was conducted in Konya province and T.C. 50 married couples who applied to the private Family Counseling Centers operating under the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services participated. As data collection tools in the research, Dynasty Compatibility Scale and Marriage Satisfaction Scale were used. In addition, data on the sociodemographic characteristics of the couples were obtained by using the Demographic Information form prepared by the researcher. The analysis of the data was carried out with SPPS 25 (IBM Corp. Released 2017. IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 25.0. Armonk, NY: IBM Corp.) program. In order to examine the predictive effects of independent variables on dependent variables, regression analysis was used to examine differences between groups. One-Way ANOVA was also performed. According to the research results; the institution of marriage can be affected by some variables and some temporal processes. The findings show that marital adjustment positively predicts marital satisfaction. It is seen that the characteristics of couples that affect marital adjustment also affect marital satisfaction.
