A sociological study on how the COVID-19 pandemic is experienced in daily life: The case of Bolu-Mudurnu Munduslar village

In this study, it was tried to examine how individuals living in rural areas experienced the Covid-19 pandemic in their daily lives and what problems they faced in this process. The new normal order rules brought by the pandemic process have become the centre of daily life, resulting in individuals changing their routines, habits and social relations. At this point, the part of the study that aims to contribute to the literature is to reveal how the pandemic is manifested in the daily lives of individuals living in rural areas, which are relatively invisible parts of the society. In this context, qualitative research method was used in the study and data were collected through in-depth interviews. The study was conducted in Munduşlar village of Mudurnu district of Bolu, and interviews were completed with a total of 10 participants, 5 women and 5 men. Descriptive analysis method was used in the analysis of the data obtained, and the findings were interpreted by creating superordinate themes from the coded data. As a result of the study, it was concluded that in the context of daily life in the village of Munduşlar, the participants adapted to the new order within the scope of the measures introduced to protect against the virus, the pandemic did not have any impact on agricultural production activities, but in the sale of products, restrictions had a negative impact on sales. In addition, it was found that the participants were most affected socially during the pandemic process, and the reason for this was that they could not meet with their loved ones and close circles due to restrictions.
