Abstract (EN)
Objective: To evaluate the effects of covid-19 on acoustic structure of speech and voice quality. Methods:One hundred volunteers between the ages 26 and 40 participated in the study. Preoperative records were taken in a quiet environment with an electroglottography (EGG). Participants voiced /a/, /e/, /i/ vowels for two seconds. Percentage of vocal shimmer, vocal jitter, together with fundamental frequency (F0) and harmonics were analyzed with Multidimensional Voice Program® (MDVP). Result: There was no significant difference between preoperative and postoperative voice analyses (p˃0.01). Differences in resonance were observed in four patients. Although short-term differences in resonance were observed in a patient, he recovered back to the preoperative values. F0 changes were evident in one patient, and were short-termed in three patients. One patient showed no pre- and postop changes. Changes were observed only in one vowel among three. Conclusion: Covid-19 has no potential to change vowel voice quality permanently. According to our findings, despite the mild influences, voice recovers to the preoperative condition.
