Quality of life research in residence-type housing in İstanbul during the COVID-19 period

In this study, the quality of life in residence type housing in İstanbul was investigated during the Covid-19 period, where the livability of the housing was revealed in a significant way. A quality of life study was carried out under the influence of Covid-19 period over two different types of residence projects in Ataşehir-İstanbul through investigating the concepts of urban life quality and housing. The urban quality of life study has been handled within the concepts of the design of the flats, common areas of the residences and the built environment. In the first part following the introduction of the study, epidemics throughout the history were studied and the effects of them on the change of the cities were explained. Today's global epidemic Covid-19 and the effects on the quality of urban life has been examined, and the increasing importance of the livability of the housing has been emphasized. In the second part of the study, the concepts of urban quality of life and housing are handled. In terms of urban quality of life, the indicators and the factors of urban livability are explained in detail. Within the concept of housing, residence type housing is discussed more comprehensively. The third part includes the field research. The quality of life research was carried out in the Covid-19 period through the method determined with the example of two different residence buildings selected in Ataşehir region as the case study. Residence housing design, the common areas of the residence and the environment of the building were analyzed in this context. Besides the objective analysis, a survey was conducted with the users of two different residences selected and the results of the subjective quality of life study were revealed in order to support the study.
