Faunistic investigation of lagoon lakes and water bed in çukurova delta in terms of Helophoridae and Hydrophilidae (Coleoptera) families

In this study, samples belonging to the Hydrophilidae and Helophoridae families collected from the lagoon lakes in the Çukurova Delta and the water beds feeding these lakes were investigated. The study was carried out between June-October 2021 and March-May 2022, in Yumurtalık, Tuzla and Akyayan lagoons and Akyatan lagoon which is known as Turkey's largest lagoon lake and has been taken under protection by the Ramsar contract. The samples constituting the study material were collected from lagoon lakes and stream beds feeding these lagoon lakes, the puddles formed by irrigation canals, the junction points of fresh waters on the seaside with the sea, and from fisheries and various wetland habitats with the help of special equipment. In the study area, 12 taxa belonging to Hydrophilidae family and 6 taxa belonging to Helophoridae family have been identified. From the species, male individuals of Helochares pallens (MacLeay, 1825), Hydrobius fuscipes (Linnaeus, 1758), Chasmogenus livornicus (Kuwert, 1890), Enochrus (s.str.) melanocephalus (Olivier, 1792), Coelostoma (s.str.) orbiculare (Fabricius, 1775), Enochrus bicolor (Fabricius 1792), Paracymus relaxus Rey, 1884, Helophorus paraminutus Angus, 1986 and Helophorus frater d'Orchymont, 1926 are the first to be recorded from the study area and Adana province.
