Fertility and milk yield performance of goats raised in Research and Application Farm of Faculty of Agriculture in Çukurova University

This study was carried out in order to determine the fertility and milk yield performances of the Alpine goat (n=121) and the Saanen goat (n=80) raised inUniversity of Cukurova Faculty of Agriculture Research and Application Farm on Goat Unit.The kidding rate 85.12 and 87.50 %, litter size164.08and 155.71%, fecundity139.67 and 136.25 % were found respectively on Alpine and Saanen goats.The average birth weight of Alpine single born females and males were found 4.09 kg and 4.42 kg. The average of twins born females and males 3.34 kg and 3.69 kg. the average of triplet-born females and males were found 3.17 kg and 3.20 kg respectively. The average birth weight of Saanen single born females and males 4.03 kg and 4.18 kg. The average of twin-born females and males were 3.61 kg and 3.75 kg, the average of females and males born triplets was determined as 2.89 kg and 3.07 kg respectively.Average weaning weight (60 days) for Alpinesingle born females and males were 12.67 kg and 13.27 kg, 11.02 kg and 13.37 kg for twins born females and males, 10.33 kg and 12.87 kg for female and male born triplets respectively.Saanen was 10.75 kg and 11.44 kg for single born females and males, 11.42 kg and 12.38 kg for twins born females and males, the females and males which born triplets were found to be 10.74 kg and 11.49 kg respectively.Daily milk yield average was found to be 2.23 liters in Alpine goats and 2.32 litters in Saanen goats.Lactation milk yield and lactation periods were 233.27 days with 518.57 liters in the Alpine,in the Saanen breed it was determined as235.30 days with 545.34 liters respectively.
