Abstract (EN)

This study examines the process of electrification in Turkish provinces between 1923 and 1960, detailing the historical development of electricity in Turkey from the Ottoman Empire to the Republican era. The research focuses on the energy policies and legal regulations implemented during the periods of Atatürk, İsmet İnönü, and the Democrat Party, exploring topics such as electricity production and consumption, hydroelectric power plant projects, and U.S. aid. The study also analyzes the organizations and legal frameworks responsible for electricity production and consumption, as well as the various regional and urban electricity production sources in Turkey. Each region's and city's electrification process is detailed, assessing the transformations and changes that occurred during this period. Additionally, the role of electricity education is highlighted, emphasizing the importance of training and human resources in the development of energy policies. This research, conducted through extensive archival research and literature review, aims to present the historical development of electricity in Turkey and significant events and decisions in this process.
