The examiation of travel books in teaching social sciences in primary schools applied beginnig from the fondation of republic

In this study, secondary school Social Studies Curriculum set from the proclamation of the republic until today and purposes and topics of curriculum have been examined according to travel books. So historical method was conducted. The data in study consist of related written materials published from 1923 to nowadays.In the study 1938 and 1949 Secondary School Curriculums, 1970 Secondary School Social Studies Curriculum, 1985 Secondary School Curriculum of National History and Geography, 1998 and 2005 Secondary School Social Studies Curriculum were examined.Generally it is tried to find answer in this study what kind changes and developments became related to travel books in the aims and aimed behaviors, content, education situation and examining situation in the sixth and seventh class of the secondary school social studies curriculum.The research includes five parts. The first part is ?Introduction?, the second part is ?Theoretical Information and Relevant Publication?, the third part is ?Method?, the forth part is ?Inventions and Comments?, and the fifth part is ?Results and Suggestions. To reveal theoretical bases of study, definition, meaning and purposes of Social Studies and its historical development and definition of travel books in details have been researched and explained. Sources used are also given in references and study has been completed. There are several suggestions in parallel with the results that gained from the research.
