Abstract (EN)

Chuvash Turkish is a member of the large Turkic language family, which spans a vast geographical area from Central Asia to the Balkans. Chuvash Turkish is considered among the r branches of Turkish in terms of its features. The issue of whether Chuvash Turkish has the same root with other Turkish dialects has been discussed in Turkology from time to time. As a result of the studies, there is a consensus that Chuvash Turkish has the same roots with other Turkish dialects and that it is a Turkish language. This study aims to answer the question of whether Chuvash Turkish is closer to the Kipchak or Oghuz groups by comparing the nouns in Chuvash Turkish with those in Kyrgyz Turkish and Turkish of Turkey. Due to its geographical location and historical interactions, Chuvash Turkish may exhibit similarities with both Kyrgyz Turkish and Turkish of Turkey. This study specifically focuses on the comparisons of nouns, aiming to reveal the similarities and differences through this category. In the thesis, the nouns listed in the Chuvash Turkish Dictionary were compared with their counterparts in the Kyrgyz Turkish and Turkish of Turkey dictionaries. The words were compared in terms of sound changes, vowel harmony, meaning differences and structure. As a result of these comparisons, it is aimed to offer new perspectives on the proximity of Chuvash Turkish to both the Kipchak group and the Oghuz group.
