Investigation of the applicability of Building Information Modeling-BIM systems in consultancy agent

In this study, it is aimed to investigate the use and applicability of the Building Information Modeling (BIM) system in consulting agents, which enables the predetermined possible problems during the implementation of the project, and which is becoming increasingly widespread in construction projects. In this context, firstly the literature was investigated to gather information about the prevalence of the use of the BIM system and the consulting agents applied in building production of this system. Then, it was tried to determine the place and the importance of the BIM system within the scope of consultancy agents applied in our country. First of all, by applying a questionnaire to the consulting firms providing services in building production, and the data about the awareness, usage prevalence and applicability of the consulting agents of this system were collected. Thereafter, the implementation phase of a public project, which received consultancy, but the BIM system wasn't applied, was monitored. Information about the problems experienced during the construction of this project was collected and at the same time the project was designed with the software of the BIM and it was researched whether it would be possible to determine the problems related to the BIM application before the construction started. As a result of this comparison, it has been determined that project-based problems can be largely avoided during the construction phase if the BIM system has been implemented in this project. As a result of the analysis of questionnaires, most of these firms use the BIM system although there are only a few consulting firms in our country. However, those who don't use this system haven't yet had enough information about the BIM system, so they didn't implement it on the projects they were managing.
