The characters that represent the behavior and structure of the society should also be handled with this view. Thus, both the literary works will be easier to understandand the valuejudgments of the society will be better shaped. Classical Turkish poetry, has been tried to be understood and interpreted within it sown term. It is necessary to know the back ground of the texts in order to understand the world of Divan poetry adorned with symbols. For this purpose, we have separated the axis of our study into characters whic hare in the carrier code format of the society. The characters we analyze, correspond to each individual in the society and reflect their psychosocial status. Type represents pronounced behavior in society. There are characters in Divan poetry representing prominent behaviors. These characters in the 'Hulûsî-i Dârendevî Divanı which we have examined with great care, have been evaluated under three main titles. These characters are such as; imaginative and sufi characters: Âşık (Lover), Mâşuk, Rind, Derviş (Dervish) and Sâki; Negative characters: Ağyâr, Adû, Rakip and Zâhid; Figurative characters like: Bülbül (Nightingale), Gül (Rose), Şem (Candle), and Pervâne (Butterfly). The charecter reflects the people we can meet often in Daily life. They can change over time, they are not static. The characters we identified in Divân literature are as follows: Sufi characters, Religious characters and Historical/Legendary (Epic/Mythological) characters. Es-Seyyid Osman Hulusi Efendi; who was the subject of our study, lived in the town of Darande in Malatya between 1914 and 1990 and he was one of the followers of the Naqshbandi tariqa. Hulûsî Efendi has three works. These work sare "Dîvân-ı Hulûsîi Dârendevi", "Mektûbât-ı Hulûsî-i Dârendevî" and "Şeyh Hamîd-i Velî Cami Minberinden Hutbeler".
