Abstract (EN)

The adsorption method for gas separation and treatment in industries is more widely used in other conventional separation processes such as distillation and gas extraction. However, the surface properties of the adsorbents used to make the adsorption event more effective are important. There are various methods for effective surface applications of the adsorbents. One of these methods is plasma applications. Plasma applications are evaluated in two parts as hot plasma and cold plasma. Hot plasma applications have high energy consumption. Therefore, cold plasma method is more preferred in surface modifications. Various functional groups can be attached to the surfaces by plasma modification. In this thesis, as an alternative to the existing methods, it was aimed to modify the petroleum coke, ukraine and sirnak coal samples commonly found in the market with oxygen cold plasma and to remove the malachite green dyestuff from the aqueous media with the resulting adsorbents. After the plasma application and before the charcoal samples were obtained by XPS, FTIR, SEM and BET techniques. It was observed that the plasma application on the coal samples was effective and the oxygen groups increased on the surface of the coal samples. The removal of malachite green dye using plasma samples was investigated by varying different parameters such as initial pH, adsorbent dose, starting dye concentration and temperature. Both Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms were used for the experimental data. Pseudo first order and second order rate equations were used for kinetic data. Thermodynamic parameters were obtained. Keywords: Adsorption, coal, malachite green, cold plazma
