Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACT Thesis of Master's Degree HAVING DIFFERENT SURFACE GEOMETERS OF AIR COLLECTORS DESIGN AND INVESTIGATE THE THERMAL PERFORMANCE EXPERIMENTALLY Hakan KARAKAYA Fırat University The Institute of Natural Scienses Mechanical Education Main Scientific Branch 2005, Page : 91 In studies performed for air collectors, thermal performance of the collector is increased using passive method by being designed different surface geometers. As known, Increasing of flow path and the effect of turbulance is the reason for increasing of thermal performance of solar collector. The thermal performance of extant solar collectors is found to be low level because of physical properies of the air. In this study, three solar collector having different flow path shaped coil channels were designed. The effect of three parameters on the thermal performance of the solar collector was investigated. The experiments were performed on the days of April and May in 2005. Efficiency of solar collector, pressure loss, friction coefficient, Nusselt number and Exergy loss were obtained by being calculated from experimental data and compared with literature. It was seen that the efficiency of solar collector increased 3 1-45 % compared to flat plate collector. Key words: Solar Energy, Solar Air Collector, Efficiency, Thermal performance. X
