Abstract (EN)
In the thesis study, it has been focused on the power factor reductions of the power factor correction circuits with variable output load, which are among the amplifier type converter-based power factor correction circuits with variable output load. In order to solve the power factor reduction problem that occurs at variable output loads, Variable Load Compatible Active Power Factor Correction with Average Current Control algorithm has been developed for 400 V output voltage and 50-400 Watt output load range. While developing algorithm, focused on two main problems of power factor correction circuits. The first of these problems is the design of power factor correction circuits produces for a constant output power. While designing the power factor correction circuit for a constant load, the control parameters of the power factor correction circuit are determined according to the constant transfer function. In many power factor correction circuits, on the other hand, the output power changes over time. This situation causes the transfer function to change, thus causing the controller to perform poorly. The second problem mentioned is that the current on the booster inductor constantly switches between the continuous current mode and the discontinuous current mode at low powers. This situation is referred to as the complex current mode and give rise to power factor reduction. Stated problems have been solved with an artificial intelligence curve fitting based proportional current reader. The developed proportional current reader keeps the transfer function constant by increasing the input current in the ratio of output power / rated power and prevents power factor reduction. The switching between the operating modes of the circuit has been prevented and operation of the circuit in continuous current mode has been provided with the selection of booster inductor and circuit elements. Improved power factor correction algorithm and power factor correction algorithms which exist in literature have been implemented in the Psim simulation environment and compared. The results show that the developed power factor correction algorithm is successful in solving the power factor reduction problem at low power in continuous current mode.
