Abstract (EN)

In this study, the stratigraphic succession, kinematic features and geological setting of the rocks in the southeast of Demirci (Manisa) were investigated. Menderes Massif, consisting core rocks (gneiss-orthogneiss-migmatites) and cover rocks (schists), forms the structurally lowest part of the region. Core and cover rocks are tectonically overthrusted by the ophiolitic melange rocks of the Izmir-Ankara Zone with a low-angle. Tectonic movements related to nappe emplacement have developed some ductile secondary structures in the Menderes Massif metamorphites. These secondary structures developed in the core and cover rocks include foliations, shear band cleavages, stretching lineations, asymmetric deformed pebbles and intrafoliation folds at micro and outcrop scales. As a result of the evaluation of the kinematic data defined within the scope of this study, it was determined that the nap subjecting the Menderes Massif to deformation moved towards the northeast, a single ductile deformation phase was active during the Alpine orogenesis, and the brittle deformation phase was represented by high-angle faults during the Neotectonic period.
