The effect of control focus training program on 6th 7th and 8th grades elementary students? locus of control

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of locus of control training on 6th 7th and 8th grade elementary students? locus of control.Population of this study is 6th ,7th , and 8th grade students at Denizli 19 Mayıs Elementary School and the sample of the study is 20 students chosen among them.To measure the dependent variable of the study, locus of control level, Dağ?s (2002) Locus of Control Scale (LCS) which is adapted into Turkish from Rotter (1966)?s Internal-External Locus of Control Scale (RIELCS) has been used.Locus of Control Training is independent variable of the study. This training has been given to experimental group once a week for 50 minutes during 12 weeks period. Control group has not been given any training.An experimental model with pre-test, post-test control group is used in this study. Medians and sums of group?s scale points differentials before and after experiment is calculated. In order to decide whether differentials are significant or not, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test for paired samples and Mann Whitney U-Test for independent samples is used.At this study, statistically significant decrease has been recorded at experimental group?s locus of control level after training. Students? locus of control levels has been shifted from external to internal.Key Words: Locus of Control, Primary School Students, Interaction Group.
