Abstract (EN)
It is obviously that there have been occurred friction and wear between mechanical parts being in touch during engine operating. Strength of materials of components becoming deformed with friction and wear has reduced and undesirable situation such as fracturing and breaking has been occurred. It is important choosing materials and also operating conditions to minimize wearing effect. For this reason, appropriate lubricant and lubricating system should be used to minimize the wearing of the moving parts of engine. Some percentage of the total power has been decreased with friction loss in an internal combustion engine and as a result of this decrease, engine performance and fuel consumption have been negatively affected. Consequential high heat of combustion has been resulted in increasing wearing loss. The conducting heat to cylinder liner from combustion of fuel has been vaporized and oxidized the lubricating oil. Besides, water vapor appearing at the end of compression stroke, acidic combustion products, carbon deposits and combustion residue have been affected the piston ring-cylinder liner wear. Lubricating oil has disintegrated as a consequence of mixing with fuel, combustion residues, carbon deposits and particles causing from wear. Thus, friction and wear has increased in engine and this resulted in power losses. In this study, a wear device has been designed and manufactured for the purpose of investigating friction and wear between piston ring and cylinder liners. The effects of using different marine lubricants, oil-fuel mixtures as a lubricant on the friction and wear has been investigated experimentally, depending on the load and revolution (cycle) between piston ring and cylinder liner. Experiments have been done at 60-150 rpm owing to increasing friction and wear with low speeds.
