Abstract (EN)

In this study, biochemical composition, antimicrobial activity, fatty acid composition, nutrient components and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) images of four different macroalgae species were determined for the functional products which will be developed in the future. Macroalgae samples were collected from Iskenderun Bay, the northeastern Mediterranean coast. Sargassum vulgare, Dictyota dichotoma from brown algae, Ulva intestinalis from green algae and Ellisolandia elongata from red algae were used in the analysis. The highest protein, lipid and ash contents were determined respectively by U.intestinalis (15.77%), S.vulgare (12.21%) and E.elongata (76.75%). The percent change rates in the highest and lowest SFA, MUFA and PUFA were respectively D.dichotoma (41.48%) - E.elongata (85.85%), E.elongata (not determined) - D.dichotoma (22.67%), E.elongata (not determined) - S.vulgare (2.52%). The highest C, H, N values were determined as E.elongata. In conclusion, in the antimicrobial efficacy tests, U.intestinalis and E.elongata macroalgae species were found to be effective against E.coli and C.albicans.
