Abstract (EN)
Aim: In this study, it was aimed to compare the clinical efficiency of straight TMA wire and inverted NiTi wires and their effects on pain sensation in individuals who need dentoalveolar expansion. Materials and Methods: In this study, 48 routine clinical patients who needed dentoalveolar expansion after leveling and alignment with 0.016*0.022" NiTi wires were randomly assigned to three groups (n=16) (0.017*0.025 inverted NiTi (I), 0.017*0.025 straight TMA (T), and 0.017*0.025 standard NiTi group (K)). At the beginning of treatment (T0), at the first month (T9), at the second month (T10) and at the end of the expansion session (T11) intercanine, inter first premolar, inter second premolar, intermolar distance and first molar inclination measurements were made. The participants were given a VAS scale (Tilk-T1-T2-T3-T4-T5-T6-T7-T8) and their pain levels were compared. Results: While there was no difference between the I group and T group in maxillary intercanine, inter first premolar, inter second premolar and intermolar distance increase at all times, it was found to be higher in the study groups compared to the control group. While there was no difference between the I group and T group in the increase of upper first molar tooth inclination, it was found to be higher in the study groups compared to the control group. It was determined that the highest level of pain was reached on the 1st day in all three groups and the pain decreased significantly depending on time. The 6th hour, 1st day and 2nd day VAS values were higher in the T group than in the K group. Conclusion: Straight TMA wire and inverted NiTi successfully expended the maxillary dental arch compared to the standard NiTi group. Straight TMA wire and inverted NiTi increased maxillary first molar inclination compared to standard NiTi group. The highest pain level in all groups was on the 1st day and gradually approached zero towards the 7th day.
