Abstract (EN)

In our country, where earthquakes are felt intensely and severely, the importance given to water holding structures has been increasing recently. For this reason, the performance of the water holding structures to be constructed or to be constructed under dynamic loads is extremely important. Within the scope of this study, two-dimensional dynamic analysis of Kütahya Tavşanlı Kayı Pond was carried out with PLAXIS 2D program, which works with non-linear analysis finite element method. In the analysis, 12 different earthquake acceleration records were used for 3 different sections. For the models made in the PLAXIS 2D program, the most realistic models were made with the necessary project support from the DSI 3rd Regional Directorate. In the selection of earthquake acceleration records, equal amounts of acceleration records from strike-slip, normal and reverse faults were selected, taking into account the seismology of the region and the active fault map. Selected acceleration records were used by scaling with the maximum ground acceleration (PGA) value of the region from AFAD data. The effects of water heights and dam sections on seismic stability were investigated by using 3 different sections in the analyses. As a result of the analysis, it is seen that the deformation values due to the rigidity of the ground where the dam is located remained at reasonable levels. From the summary graphs drawn, it is seen how the spectral acceleration values change in response to factors such as depth, body height due to cross-sectional differences, and fault type.
