Abstract (EN)
This study aims to evaluate the TOKİ mass housing constructed in the Adıyaman İndere region after the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023, within the context of social sustainability. It is not considered sufficient for post-disaster housing to merely meet the need for physical shelter; it must also address sustainability components such as social cohesion, cultural integration, community interaction, and quality of life. In this research, the concept of sustainability is examined through its environmental, economic, cultural, and especially social dimensions. Both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods were employed; variables such as user satisfaction, sense of belonging, perception of safety, and social interaction were analyzed through surveys and in-depth interviews conducted as part of the field study. The findings reveal that the Adıyaman İndere TOKİ mass housing projects fulfill the principles of social sustainability only to a limited extent. The spatial organization of the housing and its compatibility with user needs have a direct impact on social life. In this context, the study emphasizes the necessity of designing long-term, livable environments that support social recovery, not only structural safety, in post-disaster housing production. As a result, the study proposes recommendations based on sustainable architectural design principles for similar future projects.
