Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, an innovative design was presented with the aim of reduced power consumption and increased maneuver capability for the multicopters, which have a rapidly growing utilization among other UAV applications with their mechanical simplicity and various areas of usage. Propeller rotor sets were designed in such a manner that the driving of these sets can be achieved with a single brushless DC motor for a decreased power consumption, and a variable-pitch changing mechanism was used for an improved maneuver envelope along with the directional changes. A drive mechanism in capable of preserving the mechanical simplicity of the conventional multicopters was designed and strength analysis were applied for the multicopter which was aimed to be constructed in quadrotor configuration. Aerodynamic properties of the selected propeller with thin circular arc airfoil were calculated via a CFD solver with the similar Goe417a profile and expected thrust and power values were obtained with the aid of Blade Element and Momentum Theory. Finally, a variable pitch single motor quadrotor was developed.
