Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to synthesize the novel optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) materials based on BeO synthesized using Sol-Gel and Co-precipitation methods. Structural, morphological and thermal characterizations of newly developed BeO-based ceramics were done with XRD, SEM-EDS, FTIR, and TGA techniques. To enhance TL and OSL characteristics of BeO ceramics, appropriate calcination and sintering condition were determined for two synthesis methods. The effect of metal and lanthanide dopant elements on luminescence and dosimetric characteristics of BeO ceramics was studied in detail. Furthermore, the obtained luminescence emissions were examined by RL, OSL and TL techniques. Dosimetric characteristics of newly developed samples in this thesis were tested by performing reusability, dose- and energy-responses, dark storage fading experiments. With the step annealing, TL after OSL and TT-OSL studies, the origin of the OSL signals and correlation between TL and OSL signals of all the samples were determined. Photo-transferred OSL was also studied and further discussions on luminescence mechanism in doped BeO ceramics were done. Moreover, thermal quenching energies of BeO ceramics were evaluated using two different techniques (read temp and TOSL). Kinetic parameters of some newly developed BeO-based ceramics were examined in detail.
