Structuring of archival services in national archives

With the study on research services in national archives, it was tried to determine whether the research services of the national archives were carried out within the scope of standards and regulation. In doing so, it is aimed to determine the perspective of managers, researchers and archivists who provide consultancy services, to identify existing deficiencies and to reveal solution suggestions. Moreover, seven national archives from foreign country archives with advanced archival and archival studies in archiving services, showing different management features, were examined and the services they provided were compared. Qualitative research method was selected as the research method and semi-structured questions were asked to researchers, archive managers and archivists by using interview technique as data collection method. The responses received were evaluated by making content analysis. In the light of the data acquired, it was concluded that research services should be developed within the framework of existing archiving standards and legislation. Furthermore, counselling service, public relations, promotion and training, document search system (BETSIS), researcher studies and services for people with disabilities have been identified as issues that need to be developed.
