Abstract (EN)
This study aims to provide a comperative analysis on the diasporic identity formation of Turkish and Kurdish nationalist which was ascribed to the homeland of Turks and Kurds within Turkey's policies which resulted in migration to various countries. Although being subjected to a particular state hegemony had been seen normal from the ancient periods of history, the emergence of nationalists movements in the nineteenth century and the construction of the nation states in modern sense caused rising ethnic problems. Ethno-political problems within states provided a basis for the emergence of diasporic activities as well. Ethnic origin related problems have also been reproduced in the diaspora and transformed into the reconstruction of nationalism in the transnational area. This study attempts to examine belonging supported by concepts such as diasporization, identity building in diaspora, nationalism and transnationalism of Turks and Kurds in the process of Turkey's nation-statehood policies.
