Abstract (EN)

Dichlorvos, which is an effective insecticide and outstanding with the amount of usage between pesticides, is widely used in countries with agricultural activities. Pesticides, even if they are useful in agricultural combating, the effects on human health can not be ignored. Dichlorvos is a compound of organophosphate and Dichlorvos poisoning is the leading cause of poisoning depending on pesticides all over the world. Dichlorvos, depending on the time of exposure dose and exposure is kidney damage. This study aimed to investigate the protective effects on the kidney damage of Crataegus extract with Dichlorvos. For this puspose; 170-230 g weighing 56 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups. First group received corn oil (1,8 ml/kg/day), second group received Crataegus extract (100 mg/kg/day), third group received dichlorvos dissolved in corn oil (10 mg/kg/day), forth group received Crataegus extract ( 100 mg/kg/day) 30 minute before dichlorvos dissolved in corn oil (10 mg/kg/day) intragastrically., body and kidney weight, urea, uric acide and creatinine values were investigated 4 and 7 weeks after the start of the study. MDA and FOX experiments were applied. Histopathological investigations were made. As a result, it can be said that application dosage of diclorvos has not created the desired level of kidney damage so that effects of Crataegus can not be fully occur.Keywords: Crataegus, Kidney, Dichlorvos, Organophosphate
