An examination of the 'Gift to the Child' method, a religious developmental model, in respect of religious education

The necessity, method and content of religious education in early childhood and infancy are discussed in our products and in the world from various perspectives. The 'Gift to the Child' education method, which is applied in England where different religions live together, is a secular religious education approach with psychological, pedagogical and theological foundations. By observing and examining different methods and educational-scientific inferences from adult education, many information and skills can be learned from children according to these methods and these can be transformed into positive gains in their lives. The 'Gift to the Child' method works with values such as responsibility, tolerance, forbearance and love such as Allah, prophet, revelation, prayer. The drawings are distinguished from other religious education practices by targeting the sense of holiness. The 'Gift to the Child' method is within the limits of the teacher in order to ensure that educational-scientific inferences are obtained by comparing these children's religious contents. The method's educational process, teacher-student-material dimension and its applicability in terms of religious education have been taken. In examining the applicability of this approach, which evaluates religious development theory and development theories together and evaluates the scope they can gain; After the literature review of the resources related to the department, mathematical data were collected with the semi-exercise interview technique from qualitative research methods. In this context, interviews were conducted with 10 teachers working at the 5th grade level in official schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Kocaeli province and the data obtained were evaluated with the scope of the periods taken from the data.
